Functional exhaustion of CD4+T cells in HIV/HCV coinfected HAART-treated patients

چکیده

Infection with hepatitis C virus (HCV) is common among HIV-positive patients, up to 50% of them being coinfected in Russia. While highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) suppresses HIV replication and restores the immune system HIV-infected subjects, HCV coinfection interferes CD4 + T cell regeneration increases risk patients’ morbidity mortality. During HAART, HIVinfection progression restoration efficiency largely depend on activation exhaustion. This study determined level activation, exhaustion, cytokine production cells obtained from peripheral blood HAART-treated HIV/HCV monoinfected subjects. The comprised 11 individuals 10 patients receiving HAART for more than two years, a control group volunteers without signs or infections. Compared healthy controls, had an increased frequency activated CD38 HLA-DR lymphocytes (p < 0.05), higher exhaustion according TIGIT expression density per greater proportion interferon-gamma (IFNγ)-producing following 0.05). IFNγ-producing donors’ positively correlated (R = 0.514, p 0.01). Despite having large number lymphocytes, average IFNγ by was significantly lower that controls did not > However, negative correlation established between -0.400, letter also found inversely correlate counts -0.598, These data suggest leads pronounced functional may aggravate course HAART.

Effectiveness of pegylated interferon alfa plus HAART in HIV/HBV treatment-naïve coinfected patients

Methods We performed a prospective cohort study in HIV/HBV treatment-naïve coinfected patients taking care at “La Raza” National Medical Center, Mexico City. Patients were treated with Efavirenz or Lopinavir-ritonavir, each with tenofovir/emtricitabine plus pegylated interferon alfa-2b (1.5 μg/kg/week) or pegylated interferon alfa-2a (180 μg/week) during 48 weeks. HBV genetic analysis was obtai...

PD-1 mediates functional exhaustion of activated NK cells in patients with Kaposi sarcoma

Programmed Death-1 (PD-1), an inhibitory receptor expressed by activated lymphocytes, is involved in regulating T- and B-cell responses. PD-1 and its ligands are exploited by a variety of cancers to facilitate tumor escape through PD-1-mediated functional exhaustion of effector T cells. Here, we report that PD-1 is upregulated on Natural Killer (NK) cells from patients with Kaposi sarcoma (KS)....

Characterization of drug-resistance mutations in HIV-1 isolates from non-HAART and HAART treated patients in Burkina Faso.

Non-B HIV subtypes have been estimated to account for 88% of HIV infections in the world. These subtypes are particularly relevant in view of the availability of antiretroviral (ARV) drugs, since subtype-specific mutations are associated with drug-resistance in developing countries. Therefore, the pol gene sequences in HIV-1 isolates were examined from the three distinct groups of 39 infected p...

The course of inactive hepatitis B in hepatitis-C-coinfected patients treated with interferon and ribavirin.

BACKGROUND Interferon (IFN) combined with ribavirin (RBV) is an effective therapy for hepatitis C virus (HCV)-infected patients. Those who are coinfected with hepatitis B virus (HBV), however, might suffer from HBV reactivation. The aim of this study was to assess HBV reactivation in HCV-coinfected inactive HBV carriers following IFN/RBV. METHODS A total of 32 HBV carriers with <or=4 log(10) ...
